The purple wedding episode which he is uncredited for where they brought him on to do Joffrey's death as stated in a Collider interview. Being uncredited would indicate he doesn't like being in the spotlight and prefers working under the radar. Probably did the episode because he wanted to kill Joffrey or doing a favor for somebody involved on the show like a old protégé.

It might have been a favor or maybe it's related to keeping in good faith with the Union(Theatrical Stage Employees Union?). I know some retired actors will occasionally do a TV spot just to keep their health benefits active. I can picture Rob calling one of his contacts and arranging to do something like GoT without much hassle, very low key.
