Do people find her attractive?

I am asking this because it has a bearing on one of her movies: Crimes and Misdemeanors. She is either an unattractive desperate woman who wants to blackmail someone into marriage or a betrayed pretty woman who has sacrificed much and stayed with someone despite having other options. Can’t decide which one is the director’s message.
