THERE NO SUCH THING AS A BAD BRONSON PICTURE

Thats the truth... Well to me anyway cause i admired this guy as a child so i grew up more with the Cannon 80s action thriller movies he did. Like i did with Sly, Arnold ect...

I love what people call burt reynolds failures, Rent a cop, Malone and Heat cause they 80s. I prefer serious Burt to Smokey films.

Anyway I own all charlies films from Farewell friend all dvd/blu rays , all great pictures and not bad copies that are floating about. I see most prefare 70s charlie and hate his 80s films or other way round but I love em all because he was in them. The only problem really was Winner, he wasnt the best. Charlie snubbed alot of great film roles and directors to keep it low key and work with Winner or Thompson.

Ive seen plenty of old papers saying he turned down roles in the 80s for great directors such as Walter Hill for Extreme prej.... Oliver Stone wrote Any given sunday with Charlie in mind in 1984 but Bronson said obviously NO.

But Bronson onny cared about his 3-4 million fee Cannon dished out to him.

I must say Arnold and Slys careers have turned out much like charlie working with second rate studios like lionsgate who are considered the new cannon. But Bronson was still much loved then those guys are now.

What was your first Bronson pic you remember ? Mine was Cold Sweat then Death Wish 2... They showed them alot in the UK in the 80s. I miss the Bronson seasons on Channel 5 ; ) Good years.

Why didn't Bronson want to work with big name directors? Was it ego?

reply

He did work with Sergio Leone, Robert Aldrich, Don Siegel, Walter Hill, and Stuart Rosenberg.

You speak true.... Arnold and Sly pretty much are having a career now like Bronson did in the 80s...... Arnolds got more violent with Sabotag. Last stand. Now in the 90s theyd of smashed the box office, l

Sabotage.... To be honest Arnolds work is more serious and thrilling then what he did in the 90s apart from T2, TL, Eraser, TT, he should of done films he is now instead of Jingle all the way, Batman, junior... Tut tut..

Few reasons i read... Sam pikapah ( if that's the correct spelling) wanted him for a spy action thriller about FBI, cover ups and stuff of this, also wild bunch but Bronson refused on grounds he only works with professionals as Sam was a known drunk... Charlie was right but also wrong because Sam was a director who despite his issues knew how to go that extra mile, and that may of been a huge film team up back then....

Oliver stone wrote Any given Sunday in 1984 with Bronson in mind, Oliver threw this idea out to him, he wanted charlie in a few things but Charlie wouldn't has Oliver was a cocaine user.... Oliver stated alot that charlie is his favorite actor ....

I agree. I love all of them. I don't mind the b-movie quality of some of them either, gives them edge.

Except for Death Wish 5, Chato's Land, From Noon Til 3, and Breakhart Pass.

The White Buffalo was ... odd. But in a fun way.
