This is brilliant. Very forward-looking of him. 25 years is exactly enough time to let the world really miss him and for unearthed material from him to be fresh and exciting.

There was going to be an Aladdin 4?

There was an Aladdin 2???

reply

Yeah. Return of Jafar.

Considering someone who thoroughly enjoyed Aladdin, would you say Return of Jafar is roughly as good as Aladdin?

reply

It’s definitely not as good as Aladdin, but overall I think it’s kind of decent.

As far as animation goes, severe downgrade from the first movie. Character designs are off, and in my opinion Jasmine got the worst of it. The songs took a serious nosedive compared to their quality in the first movie. The writing isn’t terrible, but there are a few repeated catchphrases in the dialogue here and there that are cute but get old after a while. But I think the story is pretty solid, which is more than I can say for a lot of other Disney sequels. I think Aladdin and the King of Thieves is stronger (Robin Williams does come back as the Genie in that one), the TV series is worth getting into as well.

King of Thieves was his last time as Genie. Dan Castelenetta has done it since.
