How many of QT's movies are revenge fantasy?

I haven't seen them all, is there more than the following?:

1. Inglorious Basterds
2. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

reply

Kill Bill 1 & 2
Django
Death Proof (sort of)

He is very influenced by 70’s revenge flicks. He always recommends Rolling Thunder (it’s really good)

So 6 out of his 9 movies are revenge fantasy??!!

reply

It was a massive component of many of the exploitation / genre films of the 60s-80s that he draws his inspiration from. As melton said, Rolling Thunder is a perfect example.

One could argue that the hateful eight is also a revenge movie.
The second part of the movie kinda focuses on avenging John Ruth's death

So gee, which of his movies were NOT revenge fantasies?

Probably the first three:

Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown

...and then he takes six years off and comes back with a BIG revenge fantasy(Kill Bill 1 and 2.)

Perhaps during those six years he became enamored with revenge fantasies, because surely Kill Bill was ONLY a revenge fantasy, and these had elements:

Death Proof: The second set of girls avenge Kurt Russell's murder of the first.
Inglorious Basterds: Shosanna avenges the Nazi murder of her family(and Pitt's team of Jews avenge the Jews.)
Django Unchained: Vengeance is unleashed on Leo and Samuel L for mistreatment and killing of slaves.
The Hateful Eight: Eh, as someone says above, John Ruth is righteously avenged against the whole gang.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: Well - as with Hitler getting it in Inglorious Basterds -- QT invokes "fantasy revenge" against the Manson Family and reverses their murderous crime.

Come to think of it, even way back at Jackie Brown, Jackie avenges herself(turns the tables) on: the DEA cops and Samuel L. Jackson.
