Were Mimi's Breasts Real or Fake before Reduction Surgery?

Were Mimi's original large breasts fake? This question is bothering me because I just saw her in an episode of Magnum, P.I. that aired in 1982. If the IMDB birthday is correct, she was 26 when she filmed that episode. She is wearing different styles of clothing in many scenes, and, throughout, her breasts look just slightly above average in size. They are definitely not huge. And I don't know any females whose breasts grew substantially large in their mid to late 20's. Maybe, if she had children and breastfed this could have affected their size, but Mimi didn't have kids till after 2003.

Anyway, by 1995, she is definitely renowned for her very large breasts, as she showed them to the world in the movie "Full Body Massage". And, we know she had them for many, many years before 1995 and also after.

Then, not too long ago, she is publicly announcing that she has had breast reduction surgery to change her from a 34DD to a 34D (actually, she looked more like a 34DDD to me). Mimi is quoted as saying she did the surgery for cosmetic reasons (she was tired of her following her own breasts when entering a room...). So, I am a bit confused.

In 1982 at age 26, she looked like a 34D. No larger. I think her "breast reduction" surgery was simply "implant removal" surgery and probably a breast lift. I would love someone who has seen her in the 1982 Magnum episode or something else during that same time period to let me know what you think. No way was she a 34DD in 1982 unless she tied her breasts down! And I can't see any reason for her doing that for the benefit of the "babe" she played on Magnum, either.

My guess they were always real. What shows up in "Full Body Massage" is way too realistic looking for any boob job. I have yet to see breast enhancement result in big boobs with the kind of same consistency of mass that real, big boobs have. Maybe some kind of total reconstruction after a full mastectomy, but almost always the enhancement jobs wind up adding mass that just doesn't "blend" with regular tissue well, even when it's a woman with decent size going bigger and they can bury the implants under real tissue.

Jennifer Connelly and Amanda Seyfried are other examples of big breasted women who seem to shift around size wise, going from big, to small, to big again.

I think that there's a lot that affects breast volume -- hormones, diet, water intake/retention. It seems to have more of an affect on women with bigger boobs. I don't know, but I also think aging tends to grow women's breasts a little. There's some natural sagging as a byproduct of gravity and loss of skin elasticity which has its own effects, and I think when the skin loses elasticity they tend to show changes in volume/density more easily. Greater skin elasticity probably allows added volume to be compressed more or prevent water from being as easily absorbed into breast tissue.

Plus Hollywood magic can play into this, too. Most decent shows with budgets can basically make custom tailored outfits (and probably bras, too) that can tone down women's breasts or pump them up. Camera angle and blocking can also alter the sense of proportion and scale.

Jenna Fischer has big boobs, but on the Office they go a long way towards hiding her boobs with camera angles and costuming, probably to make her fit her character better. Ellie Kemper is kind of the same way -- she's got pretty prominent breasts, but they seem to go out of their way to hide them on the Office and on Kimmy Schmidt.
