Nil By Mouth

If you can get your hands on this movie, the only feature film Gary has directed, it is one of the most realistic, balanced, insightful, and NON-clichéd movies about addiction ever made. I wish he would do more directing.

It's absolutely brutal, totally raw and uncompromising, quite devastating.
It's very good but if I never see it again it will be too soon.

I have never heard of this. Thanks.

I own it on dvd. Have bought it ages ago because I am Oldman fan. Have watched it only once, I remember it was good but depressing movie. Think I might need to rewatch it, it’s been like 17 years since watching and I was still in high school then.

It's an excellent film with a clutch of superb performances, especially by Ray Winstone and Kathy Burke. I'm not sure I would ever watch it again - it's a harrowing experience. It was very well-received, certainly in the UK, and it's a little surprising that Oldman hasn't been active as a director since.

Glancing at IMDb just now tells me that he has a project in development, 22 years on.

He actually has transferred some of his energy into photography.
