Finally saw an article about the Depp Heard case on Yahoo! news.

It was about angry tweets Depp wrote to a friend in which he states he's going to do violent things to her.

All the evidence that has leaked about Heard's actual violence toward Depp, including recordings, ignored. We will get texts in which Depp writes nasty things about her, though.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say there might be some biases there. Some agenda pushing. LOL.

What I heard is that after Depp's first legal team quit, a new team took over, and they accidentally sent 70,000 tests to Heard's legal team, instead of the specific texts that they'd asked for. This was followed by speculation that Depp's new legal team were a pack of idiots, or hadn't been paid. But if it's a case of the lawyer's interns picking through 70,000 texts for unpleasant language, you can expect to either see a lot more interesting quotes over the next few weeks, or withdrawl of the case.

No matter what really what happened in private, Depp was unwise to take this case public. The bad publicity coming out of this trial is going to sink what was left of his career.

reply

The bad publicity? Have you been paying any attention at all to the case beyond the mainstream media's selective coverage of it?

#justiceforjonnydepp was trending for a reason.

reply

Both sides are getting bad publicity and lots of it, in case you hadn't noticed.

No, from a publicity and career-saving point of view, taking this public was a bad idea for Depp. Even if he was horribly abused in private and couldn't go on with his life until he had closure, the best thing for his career would be to work on looking stable and professional and over it in public, and hiring a hit man to settle the score in private.

reply

Depp was getting no publicity as far as the mainstream media were concerned until these texts leaked.

The evidence, including two lengthy phone calls, have backed up his version of events. Then these texts leaked and the media and the feminist crowd seized on that. Naturally, they are continuing to ignore the events that lead up to those angry Tweets, the physical and emotional abuse that he'd been suffering through.

The evidence is still overwhelmingly on Depp's side and I don't think these texts are going to hurt him that much, honestly, despite the mainstream media's agenda pushing.

FYI Depp's supporters may have been able to convince each other that he's a poor abused wrong hero who is manfully defending his name, but mainstream gossippers think he's being a twat, and that he and Heard are both horrible toxic people that they never want to see again.

This is very bad for his career. He's an actor, paid to play fantastical characters in movies. It's absolutely deadly for people to look at him in character makeup, and think "Oh, that's the guy who kept fighting with his ex-wife for ten times longer than the marriage", or "Oh, that's the guy who wanted to rape his ex-wife's corpse". Like I said, the smart thing would have been to handle the issues with that woman privately. Via a hit man, if necessary.

reply

His career was already badly hurt by these accusations. Disney fired him from the Pirates movies. When he finally got a part in a big, mainstream production there was widespread outrage in the media and JK Rowling caught hell for approving of Depp getting the part.

Depp's supporters may have been able to "convince each other"? No, they heard and saw the evidence that has been coming out, including the two lengthy conversations about HER violent behavior that I mentioned. They didn't have to "convince each other". You don't have to be a Depp fan to realize what was going on there.

reply

He wasn't fired from the Pirates movies because of the allegations, he was fired from the Pirates movies for barely showing up to work and driving production costs through the roof. The stupid things are insanely expensive to begin with, with the sets and costumes and his salary and the massive special effects budget, so to drive the costs up further through laziness and/or being hammered 24/7 is not something Disney is going to forgive. Which is why I say he really needs to work on looking sober and responsible and stable, rather than continuing to fight with his ex-wife.

As for the supporters "convincing each other", one of my least favorite things about the internet is the way groups can form echo chambers, and convince each other that they are not just the only ones who know all the facts, but that everyone else outside the echo chamber agrees with them! I won't argue with you on the "facts" as your mind is made up there, but I will tell you that very few people agree with you.

reply

Yeah, I think you're the one existing in an echo chamber. Either that or you're trolling.

It's the only way to explain your claim that only "Depp supporters" who have "convinced each other" agree with me after the audio of Amber admitting to physically abusing Depp and mockingly telling him that no one will believe him is absurd. This was ignored by the mainstream media but it was all over social media and sites like YouTube. As is your claim that Depp's firing from Pirates had nothing to do with Heard's abuse accusations.

Everything I wrote is accurate.

Not this Johnny Depp character again. Please, can someone give it a rest?
