Her ''Margaret Thatcher''..


While she got some of the mannerisms down she made Thatcher sound like a dying, winded elderly woman with that the voice she did. Thatcher also had much more of a masculine edge, especially in her late political career. Gillian tried but failed.

I think that Gillian Anderson was much more interested in getting to the essence of the character over trying to copy mannerisms, and in this respect she gave a much more interesting and nuanced and intelligent performance that it would have been if she had stuck to mere impersonation.
