Take a look at "Gaslight". Throughout the entire film, she is SUPERB, note, for note. Perhaps that's why one of her three Oscars went to her in this film.

Take a look at "Autumn Sonata"...ditto.

"Spellbound"....ditto.

Oh bull. Ingrid Bergman was a wonderful actress!

She's that rarest of rare birds, the great beauty who could not only act, but who could really disappear into a character instead of just playing the same persona in film after film. And believe me, that wasn't a skill that was valued by Golden Age Hollywood, what they wanted was actors who were so much the same in each film that their persona was a brand that sold movie tickets. But Bergman went on playing downtrodden wives or top professionals or divas or total sluts or nuns. I love her.
