I wasn't at this performance, but saw him in my hometown during the same tour. Very personable self-deprecating guy... He apologized to us for all the 'pouty bad-boy looks" that were a standard feature of his videos back in the 80s (think Zoolander).
He waded deep into the audience -- even into the upper cheap seats -- to sing some tunes and say hi to his fans.
His song "Never Surrender" gets playtime in S3 of Stranger Things.
Sidebar trivia: He was offered the chance to test for the role of Marty McFly in the original Back to the Future.
I've never had a chance to see him live, but I've heard good things about his shows.
