StoneKeeper's Movie Guessing Game: I recommend THIS Movie #1519 - More Fighting? [MonStar sees through the humbug with BLACKADDER'S CHRISTMAS CAROL]

I suppose it's that time of year, so...

I have a movie in mind and you have to guess which one it is. For each movie you guess, I will give a hint that connects your guess with the movie I have in mind.

For each guess, a connection is posted. Example of connections: Actor, length, genre, aspect ratio, language, country, year, director, actor, writer in common, rating, number of votes, nominations. It can even be something like: both movies involve Cabbage Patch Kids. Also, you can use Metascore color or rating, Rotten Tomatoes score, any award wins or nominations in common, same number of words in the title, plot keywords. Note: "Plot" in the IMDB advanced search links to "Plot Summary" on the film's page. "Keyword" in the advanced search links to "Plot Keyword" on the film's page.

Helpful search engine: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/ Click on Feature Film and TV Movie. Then modify for the hints as they are posted.

- The winner can either start a new game or say "pass". In case of a pass, the OP gets to start another one.
- After 12 hints, the point goes to the OP, after 15 incorrect guesses. He/she gets to start another one.
- Movie must have at least 3500 IMDB votes. Otherwise, add a bonus hint. No documentaries.
- Maximum 2 guesses per player per hint.
- Can't edit a guess once posted. Delete ONLY
- Post one Hint at a time.

Let's get it on!

Hint 1: Oscar and Lucinda (1997) - Plot keyword: 'christmas'.
Hint 2: A Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) - Same source material AND at least one Oscar winner in the cast.
Hint 3: Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) - VFA runtime under 90 minutes.
Hint 4: Scrooged! (1988) Same year!
Hint 5: A Christmas Carol (1938) - Also at least one Oscar nominee in the cast.

With all the cheer to be spread throughout the holiday season, it behooves us to acknowledge the dreary weariness of the year that has preceded it. MonStar named it first, and I think Blackadder's Christmas Carol (1988) might be the most appropriate version of Dickens' classic for this year. The timeless tale plays in reverse with an all-star cast of UK stars (Rowan Atkinson, Miranda Richardson and Hugh Laurie to name just a few) delivering constant laughs and a few sly historical insights along the way. Partake in the festivities and be annoyed as you grift your rubes, everyone.

It takes every ounce of my being not to reward this guess, so here's a juicy hint instead.

I already picked this some time ago, and part of me wishes I had saved it for a more appropriate occasion. Hint anyway?

reply

Scrooged, 1988

Making short work of this, aren't we?

It's narrowing down...

*psst* make sure in your search to click all the appropriate boxes under 'Title Type'.

. Blackadder's Christmas Carol (1988 TV Movie)

reply

I think we should put at the top movie/tv movie. I'd like the option of using them, I just completely forgot we said they were acceptable.

I agree that something more specific might benefit everyone, but it's already laid out in the rules post (emphasis mine):
