Do You Share My Passion For Full Moon Productions?

This is the little studio that could . . . and DOES. Year after year, they grind out ultra low-budget horror that is amazingly clever, often very (deliberately) funny AND sexy. They’re the adorable underdog of the movie biz, and I root for ‘em. Do you? Tubi even has a search category specifically for Full Moon Productions.

They do lot of film franchises, like The Evil Bong, Witchouse, Puppetmaster and Subspecies, about the vampire Radu and his Bloodstone. Radu is played by Anders Hove and he may legitimately be the BEST vampire actor I’ve seen. Hove is to vampires what Christopher Reeve was to Superman. He IS the role.

Full Moon has released over 550 indie films.

The studio’s best film is Dark Angel: The Ascent, a one-off, not a franchise, though for a time there were rumors of a sequel. Starring Angela Featherstone as a Child of a Hell that, interestingly, is presented as doing God’s work by creatively and enthusiastically punishing sinners. She wants to have the freedom to walk in our world, so she ascends from The Abyss. Shot on a budget of about $23 Canadian, Dark Angel is literate, horrific, sexy, funny and in fact metaphysically thought-provoking. It is the quintessence of why I love Full Moon Productions. How about you?

Oh gosh, sorry. I thought this was going to be a porn thread...

Believe it or not, my mind sometimes runs on more than 1 track—although a lot of Full Moon’s movies have oodles of very pneumatic nudity of the female persuasion. I like to do something special and ENTERTAINMENT-RELATED for my every thousandth post, so I decided to salute NMP! Thanks for stopping by, old friend😁

i wouldn't say i have any great love in my heart for full moon specifically, but i absolutely do love trashy no-budget horror, so i've crossed paths with their films a few times. i do find some of their releases lay the willfully awful campiness on just a bit too heavily.

but i did like the subspecies films i watched recently (h/t to zehpyr cape if he's still about for that), along with...

castle freak
hard rock candy
dr. alien
intruder
parasite dolls
tourist trap if you count that one
trophy heads
necropolis

i'm not out to make a case for any of these movies being good, but i personally watched them and had what i can only describe as a pretty good time.

but i have low standards. non-existent, even.
