Mission Impossible (1996 DVD) : IT was a real pleasure for me to rewatch it after all these years. I had actually forgotten that Emilio Estevez was in it. I don’t understand why he’s not even credited in the cast, he was good. Otherwise, this is one of the first action movies I discovered and till this day, still one of the great ones. (I was 11 when it came out and probably saw it a few years later.) The plot, the cast and the action makes this a classic for me but that helicopter/TGV scene lost small points. My rating: 8/10

Mission Impossible 2 (2000 DVD): This was a surprisingly good sequel if you ask me. The only general complaint I agree with is the abuse of slow-motions but hey, this movie has enough action, explosions, car chases, gun fights and martial arts to compensate for the eye-rolling moments. Good on you Woo! The story might not be great but hey, this was 19 years ago and I thought it was a well-constructed scenario. Thumbs up for me. 7.5/10

Mission Impossible 3 (2006 DVD): I found that the story jumps too quick into the action and we don’t know the new characters enough to really care about what happens. The twist, half an hour in, was weak and predictable and I found the eye-rolling moments more annoying in this than MI:2. E.g.: When you drop a bottle in the streets of Shangai, the bottle will roll and start doing speed (aprox. 10km/h). You don’t need to conceal your face to rob the most dangerous toxic weapon. An everyday normal girl that never fired a gun can take two gun specialists in a row. Oh and I don’t mean to diss the dead but I never liked Seymour Hoffman and the only scene I enjoyed him in this was when he was sitting upside down with his head sticking out of a plane. I seem to be complaining a lot but I actually enjoyed this movie for what it was, I just wanted to point out the reasons why I think the second one is better. I loved the scenes in Rome. The parachute scene was fun and again, enough fights, gunfights and explosions to keep me happy. My rating: 6.5/10

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (2011 Blu-ray): Bad news is; I actually missed Ving Rhames in this one! I think the guy is like a solid rock we can rely on since the last two films. Good news is; I always liked Jeremy Renner and I was happy to see him in top form. I loved his facial expressions. Also, seeing more of Pegg’s Benji was a real pleasure. That scene between Renner and Pegg about jumping down in the fan tunnel was great. Too bad it was followed by a ‘’Ur-anus’’ joke by Cruise. With a few adjustments, this one could’ve beat the first one but not quite. My rating: 7.5/10

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (2016 DVD): I was so pumped to find the 4 guys together for a new mission but I thought that there was not enough of Luther (Rhames) and Brandt (Renner). There were many Benji-Hunt moments though. Maybe even too many. Another detail I enjoyed so far in this series is the female characters and again, Agent Faust was well-acted and well-developed. I also loved what they did with Baldwin’s character. Finally, the story was very interesting and kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next. My favorite one yet I must say. Oh and the car/bike chases were formidable, once more. 8/10

Fallout (2018 DVD): I do have a few small complaints. E.g.: The explosion in the first scene had poor sound effect (compared to The Kremlin’s explosion), a little bit after that, some precise shooters pick apart all their targets except our heroes. They just started shooting them the second they found cover. The skydiving scene was fun but the landing was fake. The helicopter crash was kind of stupid. Also, the acting was a bit shaky at times. I did enjoy the twists and turns but we all knew the ending right from the start. The scene where Agent Hunt changed the plan to capture Lane was great. I was happy to see many characters from past movie plus a solid addition with Cavill. Overall, a good finale but I think I had enough now. No more for me please. 7/10

i still have only seen fallout, which i absolutely loved. in fact, i watched it this past week, & have bumped my rating up to a 5/5, because i just feel like it did everything i'd want an action movie to do.
inspired by your thread, i'm going to watch the first one tonight.
