Trotsky - Netflix 8 part series

This is a series now on Netflix. Its Russian, so it doesn't come from a western filter, therefore we can get at least a russian contemporary take on a very important historical figure.

The treatment has elements of surreality to it, which are effective. What I appreciate about it is the seriousness of the ideas, which are its core - the narrative framework is a 60 year old Trotsky under a bit of siege in Mexico during the early years of the war, being interviewed/harangued by a very young, probing moralistic stalinist, which serves as a vehicle to re-visit the major events in the soviet revolution, trotsky's quite formative, pivotal role in executing the revolution, running the red army during the civil war, and laying down many of the precedents for the terror, and events after, leading to his exile & assassination.

I did not fully appreciate Trotsky's primacy in the revolution until viewing this - highly recommended for anyone interested in history, especially a challenging adult, even philosophical, approach to a singular person as author of momentous events of the early 20th century.

Sounds very interesting, I don't know enough about him so I might give it a go over Christmas break
Frankly, the inner workings of the revolution are a confusing mess to me so I'm pretty much in need of an education
Thanks for the heads up jriley
