can libertarians describe their system and how it works?

waiting for an actual explanation of how things work.

namely how without any consumer protections or government regulating the economy, that

-monopolies dont form at a heightened rate and get removed

-how consumers are protected and can make informed decisions on the products they buy

to me its as la la land as communism. namely because capitalist market economies arent naturally occurring things in human nature. they are man made constructions that exist within the framework of states who actively work to maintain them.

judges make decisions on contract and corporate law, police defend private property, and consumer protections ensure consumers arent ripped off

reply

I consider myself a Republican, but one with strong libertarian beliefs. I want less federal government involved in my life and more decisions left to the state and local levels. I believe the federal government is responsible for providing infrastructure, primary education, and national defense. I believe people should be responsible for themselves and shouldn't expect the government to take care of them.

However, I will agree with you that a true libertarian system is just as unrealistic as true communism. I think most people who label themselves as libertarians simply want less centralized government and support total freedom of speech, something that is becoming less and less acceptable today.

so good thing you are pro gay marriage, pro choice and anti oil subsidies right? you were against turmps soy subsidies? why re you. republican? when have they had a fiscal hawk in power? im not saying "vote democrat" at all beleive me. im just asking

" I believe people should be responsible for themselves and shouldn't expect the government to take care of them."

umm okay.. vague but sure.

so you re against kindergarten and primary schools. oh and the roads. who builds those?

oh right like you said you support the infrastructure and big government you like and benefits you. my bad... why is post secondary a stretch too far? when its now necessary to get any sort of decent job?

"However, I will agree with you that a true libertarian system is just as unrealistic as true communism. I think most people who label themselves as libertarians simply want less centralized government and support total freedom of speech, something that is becoming less and less acceptable today."

fair. but how do ou expect a country to function when billionaires like trump have paid 750$ in 10 years? this int against trump beleive me put in any left wing rich guy its probably bad too.

the military, roads and primary schools you support dont pay for themselves. so how does a country of 330 million functions hen the wealthiest are tax dodging but you get the burden?

reply

Well, I wasn't trying to write a thesis - just an brief overview of a few of my libertarian beliefs.

"I consider myself a Republican, but one with strong libertarian beliefs. I want less federal government involved in my life and more decisions left to the state and local levels."

so good thing you are pro gay marriage - ok with me - none of my business.

pro choice - yes, but not federally funded - should be left up to the individual states.

and anti oil subsidies right?you were against turmps soy subsidies? Honest answer is - I'm on the fence about subsidies.

why re you. republican? when have they had a fiscal hawk in power? Because I believe in capitalism, I don't have any problem with people making lots of money, I don't believe in income redistribution, universal health care, and many big spending programs that the Dems support.

Sorry, having some problems - will continue on the next post.

reply

" I believe people should be responsible for themselves and shouldn't expect the government to take care of them."

umm okay.. vague but sure. The welfare system is out of control. If you want to ask questions about this specifically, I be happy to go into more detail.

so you re against kindergarten and primary schools. oh and the roads. who builds those?

oh right like you said you support the infrastructure and big government you like and benefits you. my bad...

why is post secondary a stretch too far? when its now necessary to get any sort of decent job? Because #1 I don't believe it is necessary to have a college education to be successful. There are lots of people who make a lot of money without one, and #2 - so many people come out of college and can't find jobs - so the government is supposed to just pay for college with no change of the grads ever finding work? That's all you hear any more - I can't find a job, I have to live with my parents...............

Well....... I don't believe it was ever proven he personally only paid that, but even of he did his businesses create jobs and income for a lot of people. And I guess we are in agreement that the ultra rich liberals probably play the same tax game. I don't have access to Trumps tax returns, so it is all speculation.

So how about a flat tax for everyone - everyone pays the same %? Bet the Dems would go for that - NOT.

reply

So how about a flat tax for everyone - everyone pays the same %? Bet the Dems would go for that - NOT.

because that would yet again shift the tax burden to the poor and middle class. another rich scheme to pay even less and make the poor and middle class pay more.

im guessing you rent a billionaire. why are you so well trained to shit on the poor and middle class and defend people who are ripping you off and stalling from you?

they have a good lap dog here

reply

Lap dog - no, not at all. How is everyone paying the same % not fair? But I have a feeling you don't want fair, you dislike the rich and think they should pay more just because they are rich. I simply don't agree and I'll tell you why. It's not the billionaires and multi-millionaires that are on the chopping block - it will slowly, (or maybe not even slowly) creep down into middle america and suddenly it will be the folks who have worked hard all of their lives for what they have and someone will determine they are the ones to go after.

reply

cause a flat 25% tax for example to a person earning 20k is a lot more significant than someone earning 20 million.

its pretty simple. income will get taxed higher for the poor and middle class. and other ways the rich make money will not be. its a gift to the rich.

Flat tax proposals would exempt investment income, which largely goes to the rich. Our personal income tax already taxes capital gains and stock dividends at lower rates than wages, which mostly benefits the richest 1 percent of taxpayers. Rather than eliminating these and other special breaks, the flat tax proposals would expand them into one big exemption for investment income.

But I have a feeling you don't want fair, you dislike the rich and think they should pay more just because they are rich

pretty much all developed nations have a progressive tax. but yes anyone who advocates for this far better system hates the rich. lol I knew I smelt an irrational sad lapdog.

ahhhh yes. slippery slope unfounded nonsense. "I have to defend the rich and their tax cuts, tax breaks and lavish lifestyle while a huge segment of Americans can even afford basic healthcare and are struggling! it may creep down to the middle!"

seriously just go away. you've exposed yourself as an irrational follower. you dont care about the facts and evidence. you just want to shill for people who dont care about you and have stolen from you. congrats lap dog

How about YOU just go away asshole. Smug prick. People are allowed to feel differently about things than you do, and if you’re so concerned with every other developed country having these things you want, then move there!!! Get the hell out of here and move to these other countries that give you everything. Quit trying to make everyone else as miserable as you are.

You also talk about wealthy people who have supposedly “stolen” from every day citizens merely by achieving wealth, and in the same breath you’re advocating stealing from the wealthy in taxes because they have more money than you. It’s fascinating.

It’s also amazing that when people work hard and achieve a great living in the USA the rest of the country vilifies them while trying to force them to pay for the rest of the country’s debts. Jealousy is sad. If you’ve LEGALLY become rich, more power to you, and what’s yours should stay yours, and you should pay the same tax rate as everyone else.

Here’s a good lesson: NO ONE OWES YOU A GOD DAMN THING! Go work for it and earn it instead of advocating for government theft.

It’s funny, you act like you are so knowledgeable and talk down to everyone, yet you’re here on a movie message board posting 24/7 about how you know what’s best for everyone in this country, while probably sitting in your Mom’s basement with a beanie cap on wearing a Phish T-shirt instead of being out there where your “skills” could actually be put to use for something that matters.

You know what I think? You don’t know shit. You’re a just a biased progressive douche bag who wants his “freebies” because he’s miserable and jealous of rich people.

Get a life Doggiedaddy/Melania’sMirror.

and I dont have to respect or take it seriously. move to every other developed nation? by that logic if you conservative want to change anything you should move as well. that is the dumbest fucking thing ive ever heard.

"hey Abraham Lincoln the brits abolished slavery why dont you move there if you ant that so bad"

another spazo confirmed :s

you shut make this shit up in your head dont you? no they have stolen by not paying their fair share, not only to the government but to their workers. Its a fact. look at the productivity chart. til the 70s as productivity rose so did the American peoples wages, then it stops. someone got that money, and it wasn't you

gotta love "patriotic conservative". who hate when people work hard and pay their fair share. why do you hate America?

again reading is your friend. they are vilified for not paying their fair share. or for benefiting from things in the past, like affordable education, then once they re successful they burn those bridges and actively work to defund the things that helped them get where they are

Here’s a good lesson: NO ONE OWES YOU A GOD DAMN THING! Go work for it and earn it instead of advocating for government theft.

LOL so none of these people went to public schools? or benefited from americas stability? that is the ENTIRE POINT. if just "working hard" is why rich people are successful, then the USA and its institutions dont matter. by that logic we should have a rise of billionaires all over Somalia and Sudan.

oh right its almost like the institutions and safety and ability to thrive helps people.

It’s funny, you act like you are so knowledgeable and talk down to everyone, yet you’re here on a movie message board posting 24/7 about how you know what’s best for everyone in this country, while probably sitting in your Mom’s basement with a beanie cap on wearing a Phish T-shirt instead of being out there where your “skills” could actually be put to use for something that matters.

you've never even taken a high school class on logic and philosophy have you? fail kid

You know what I think? You don’t know shit. You’re a just a biased progressive douche bag who wants his “freebies” because he’s miserable and jealous of rich people.

yes everyones just jealous. keep telling yourself that. that's why the USA ranks 25th in social mobility. BELOW Sweden, Norway, canada, Denmark and Germany.

please explain that one champ. its almsot like things like affordable education and healthcare make sure people have the OPPORTUNITY to move up and not get trapped in debt.

you embarrassed yourself so bad here. you do this often I see. you out of nowhere go on rage boomer rants. my guess is your re 62, overweight and impotent. mad you have lost your youth and just want to claim anyone who disagrees is jealous.

sad dinosaur :(

reply

Wow? Are you writing a book? Some of what I said must have cut you deep. You just went on and on. I didn’t read most of it. I get it...you want to take other peoples money and give it to everyone else for doing nothing to earn it. More power to you.

I stand by everything I said, and just wanted to let you know I’m 37, not 62, so you don’t need to bust out the most pathetically laughable insult in the history of humans with “Ok, Boomer.”

Overweight and impotent huh. That sounds like someone using anything they can to insult someone when their argument doesn’t hold weight, because what the hell is the relevance to anything we were talking about? It’s funny you chose those two specific things though...maybe you’re deflecting something you yourself are ashamed of and projecting your own insecurities onto me??? The pieces of the puzzle are coming together slowly on you. Take care socialist.

reply

Get to a safe space gramps you need it. I addressed everything you said and 90% of your response is whining how mean I am. You’ve been unmanned

its almost like, you dont understand anything. did you try and misinterpret everything I wrote? and not read a damn thing? sad

you are on the fence about corporate welfare but a libertarian.. You are against making education more affordable but okay with billions in corporate subsidies. okay....

I don't have any problem with people making lots of money, I don't believe in income redistribution, universal health care, and many big spending programs that the Dems support.

1. what do you think has happened? the rich have redistributed the income to themselves. Thats a fact. you just dont like a fair rebalancing of income to the middle class like they deserve.

2. yet love the massive military. again you love socialism and big government. when its things you like.

why is post secondary a stretch too far? when its now necessary to get any sort of decent job?

because it factually is... this isn't my pinion. its objective..

Because #1 I don't believe it is necessary to have a college education to be successful. There are lots of people who make a lot of money without one,

lol you can believe in magical unicorns. it doesnt make it true.

so many people come out of college and can't find jobs - so the government is supposed to just pay for college with no change of the grads ever finding work? That's all you hear any more - I can't find a job, I have to live with my parents

ridiculous stereotype and statement.. I thought this was a serious convo, seems you just want to parrot Fox News nonsense. by that logic why are we putting all kids through primary and high school? a decent amount will work in the service sector.

I don't believe it was ever proven he personally only paid that, but even of he did his businesses create jobs and income for a lot of people.

what a ridiculous comment. why do republicans hate people paying their fair share and make excuses for rich people.

reply

Not a ridiculous statement about college grads or even the need for a college education to be successful. With the exception of 1 person in our family, we have all built wealth without one. If a person wants to be a doctor, lawyer, or wants to work for corporate america, then college is necessary, but so may really well paying jobs are out there that only require a trade school education, or even less.

My son and his friends, who were mortgage brokers until the crash in 2008, went out and hustled and started flipping houses, making way more that they ever did with their traditional jobs.

Go ahead and support the government invading your personal life - telling you what you can read and think and say - and don't tell me that isn't happening because it is. Orwell was only 50 years off.

You started slinging insults - not me.

I don't know why I venture over to this board _I should know better.

Bye.

omg an anecdote! it must be true! ill just ignore all the hobs out there that require and education. or the fact people that have them on average make more.

If a person wants to be a doctor, lawyer, or wants to work for corporate america, then college is necessary, but so may really well paying jobs are out there that only require a trade school education, or even less.

yes and that is POST SECONDARY EDUCATION THAT ISN'T FREE. It can also be quite expensive. SO people have to do exactly what jobs you say and cut out the other 70% of the market cause "I never went and look at me!"

you just went full retard man

My son and his friends, who were mortgage brokers until the crash in 2008, went out and hustled and started flipping houses, making way more that they ever did with their traditional jobs.

more anecdote nonsense. and how did they get the capital to flip houses to begin with?

lol you keep going full retard. "look at all the opportunity and capital we had! see we made it!"

Go ahead and support the government invading your personal life - telling you what you can read and think and say - and don't tell me that isn't happening because it is. Orwell was only 50 years off.

My organization analyzed the last halfway serious flat tax bill in Congress, which was proposed by former Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, in 2010. We concluded his 20 percent flat tax plan would cut taxes for the richest 1 percent of taxpayers by over $200,000 on average, cut taxes for the next richest 4 percent by $5,800 on average, and raise taxes for everyone else by thousands of dollars each.

yes man the problem is that the rich are paying too much. we need a "fair flat tax: to increase the rate for the poor and middle and lower the richest peoples taxes by 200k

your family flipped houses so you know all about a fair tax rate and hard work
