Looking for an 80s/90s Peter Strauss movie

I asked about this on the old IMDB "need to know" but never got an answer.

There was TV movie with who I remember starred Peter Strauss as a US Army or Airforce man who has somehow slipped back in time to Nazi Occupied Eastern Europe (possibly Hungary or Czechoslovakia). I can't remember how he got there but the movie involved him befriending either British or American agents who were helping the resistance. It was a pretty cool movie and it reminded me of The Philadelphia Experiment except this was in reverse as he goes back in time.

After looking up his movie page I can't find any Film or TV series that match this type of story. Perhaps I'm thinking of another actor but as far as I know it's Peter Strauss.

reply

No, you are correct. It is a Peter Strauss movie. Seen it quite a few times

reply

Do you remember when it came out? I seem to remember it being a CBS movie but it could also have been on NBC

Philidelphia Experiment II they went back to WWII era. It was the only time travel movie that I could find that delt with your description that included Nazis.

reply

No it's not that one unfortunately.

reply

Wow, I was thinking he hit a homerun with that suggestion. It fits the time travel, WW2, Resistance, etc. The only thing it didn't fit was Peter Strauss.

reply

yeah, it's the Peter Strauss part that's missing LOL. What makes it worse is that another replier remembers this film too but can't remember the title.

I guess I'm going to have to write a fan letter to Mr. Strauss

Now that I've done some more digging, it may turn out to be a TV miniseries "Brotherhood of the Rose" from 1989. It involves espionage and jumps in time but perhaps not time travel per se. Strauss is in this one and his character's bio kinda matches what I remember. Now I just need to see if I can stream or rent this.

reply

Brotherhood of the Rose does not involve either time travel or Nazis (except for a quick reference at the beginning when they explain the origin of the Brotherhood).

Robert Mitchum plays a high ranking government official who trains Peter Strauss and David Morse to be assassins. When they lose their usefulness he sets them up to take a fall.
