There's more than one creature, right?

When they are ejecting the merged Sixpack and Bowman creature, one of their legs stays on board. There's the body outside, but the leg that stays on board is what infects DeJesus and Cobb; who later infects the Doc. Bowman's face is seen in the creature at the end that Beck blows up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa1uJbTy6XE and Beck cruses the one that was on board before escaping. There has to be at least 2.

I got the impression that each piece could regenerate. One reason why it makes no sense that they blow it up in the end.

I believe their were multiple and that each piece broken off could regenerate, as we're shown the arm which floats around.

I think blowing it up is all they could do in that moment at the end.

I'm just annoyed they kill off Ernie Hudson's character so poorly and then 30 seconds later it's all happy music as they fly away.

It is explained in the movie it's like other seas life it can regenerate to a point but it is still restricted fair amount because it's a blend of humans as well which is why it required blood to grow.

Those separate parts would die without nutrition as such.

Fire and extreme heat tends to kill everything.

It is suppose to be a last stand as such as well.

Yes I agree about the end I always wondered if directors cut would be released and we see that large amounts had been removed in between.

I have a feeling it was a case of Jaws with 'Bruce' not working so they had to scrap ideas and make do with what they could get, and just edit around it.
