Not me. I watched the original with Richard Chamberlain. No reason for me to watch it, again.

shareOkay, I can change my mind if convinced. For instance, I wasn't going to watch "Interview with a Vampire" series, but it's drastically different and superior in many ways from the movie. The expanded journalist role (I like this character), black viewpoint, spoken French, graphic gay sex scenes, family backgrounds, and older Claudia with expanded more mature role (I like this character, too).
What is different from the original which makes it worth watching?
This story, in itself, is a nice and interesting one. It does not matter if we have already seen it before. So far, I still prefer the series of the year 1980, but I am still enjoying this, even if the chemistry between Marico and the Anjin-San is not the same as in the original.
It has to be said that, in my case, I am enjoying a lot to hear and read the Japanese language, due to the fact that I am trying to learn it a little bit, and I am happy every time I recognise a couple of words here and there.
Your main reason is to practice Japanese which is fine.
Shogun 1980 Japanese I remembered: Sepeku, wok-ah-dee-mos-koh? Hi! Wok-ah-dee-mos! Pillowing.
I'm attempting to watch at least two dozen shows and a few movies on a too long list, therefore there has to be a compelling reason for me to add it.
I did watch the first 15 minutes, but there's not enough there for me to spend time to watch the rest.
It is not the main reason, but to practise Japanese is a nice positive collateral effect.
