Do you prefer the episodes with or without Batgirl?

Me I prefer the episodes without Batgirl.

reply

Story-wise I prefer the first two seasons before she joined. That said, I could look at Yvonne Craig in that outfit all day.

reply

They also changed the format for S3. Previously they were two parters with cliff hanger.
Was Batgirl supposed to bring in girl audience? Too bad Batgirl and Robin didn't make out.

reply

I always thought Batgirl was brought in for the guys. They'd lost Julie Newmar as Catwoman, and whilst Eartha Kitt was good (arguably the most 'evil' of the three versions West appeared opposite) and certainly 'sultry', I don't think she had the broad sex appeal.

reply

Mixed bag. The show was on a downward trend before Batgirl came on board. First season is great, after that, I have to judge by individual episode.

reply

Without. What a boring character. Catwoman provided the necessary female vixen to the show. Batgirl was merely an attempt to stifle the gay rumors about Robin.

reply

How did they do that? Robin and Batgorl never acted liked they were attracted to each other.

And Robin was attracted to young female characters in previous seasons.

reply

I'm talking more about Batman. There were rumors that Robin was his boytoy. Batgirl was introduced as a potential love interest for the Caped Crusader.

Of course both Batman and Robin ostensibly were attracted to women. There could have been no overt gay theme on 1960's tv.

But there was a homoerotic undercurrent to the whole comic book franchise.

reply

Batgirl was not intended to be a love interest to anyone.

reply

There are different interpretations:

batgirl was first introduced as a potential love interest for Batman. And you can see in the early comics she ignores robin nearly completely and seems more focused talking to Batman. And there is a hint of flirting between the two but it doesn't go beyond that.

I was just coming into full puberty when the Batgirl episodes were on, so I found her very distracting.

reply

All of them — with and without. Just a big fan of the show overall.

reply

I could drool over Yvonne Craig all day but the 2 part episodes with cliffhanger were better. The show was mercifully put to rest when Season 3 ended.

reply

I'm still on season 2 and already seeing that I prefer season 1... My assumption is that season 3 is going to need all the novelty it can manage. I guess that's where we get the Green Hornet crossover and that and Batgirl seem like something to look forward to.

reply

The Green Hornet crossover is only two back-to-back episodes.

reply

I know, but every little bit helps.

Of course, I wish the generally serious Green Hornet show had survived, but a little crossover will improve season 3 for me... probably.

reply

I just say the entire Batman series recently and it runs its course by the end of season 2. Batgirl gives it a little bit of revitalization in season 3, but you just get sick of seeing the same villains by that point.

reply

I'm getting to look forward to Penguin, Joker, Riddler and Cat Woman. It's characters like Ma Barker and Shame that I am a bit tired of.
