I'm OK, but not in love, with the ending. I'm replying to echo your sentiments on the finale of 6 Feet Under. Heck, I'd only seen the first season but tuned in for the finale and was blown away. One more Americans note, I DID love the way Philip, while doing the right thing, planted the seed of doubt and the associated paranoia, in Stan's head re Renee (also loved that the writers didn't give away her allegiance). Very nice touch with Philip issuing a warning about Renee possibly being an agent. Did that f with Stan's head or what? I also liked that the writers didn't give us a clue as to her allegiances. Of the 3 (?) possible storylines (Violence, arrest, or escape to Mother Russia), I can't say with certainty which one of them would have made for the best ending, since I wasn't given the chance to see how the writers, with far more creativity and imagination than I could ever muster, would have written the other two endings. Losing their children did add a large degree of melancholy consistent with the show's vibe during its run tho. All in all, satisfying tho not great. If the writers can't come up with anything other than "division in the ranks" to provide next season's dramatic tension then adios! It's been a fun ride but they shoulda taken a hint from Breaking Bad. Quit whilst ahead It may not be THE best (1 & 2 are hard to top) but it's certainly in the conversation. And this Sunday's episode, Species Jump? Simply awesome. Loving it again instead of watching it out of duty because of all the time invested in previous seasons Yup, just finished it and can honestly say IMHO it rates in the series Top 10, something I thought I'd never say again. I know the show has lost loads of fans due to some subpar seasons but, with only a few suspensions of disbelief moments marring it, this season is on track to be one of the best. View all replies >
