Without knowing Chris Kattan, I can agree that the 2021 film version has already been forgotten. Perfection can't be changed. That's the whole point. That's agreed, BKB. The Extended Version of "The Town", with the alternate Ending, has much more going for it, and there's much more closure, especially near or at the end, if one gets the drift. Steven Spielberg's done many good films, the best of which are based on seriously interestingly intense historical events, but I seriously think that the original 1961 film version of West Side Story is far better than Spielberg's remake of it, which was a disaster. Thank you for your reply, southernbelle. I had no idea that, in real life, that Bonnie and Clyde were gunned down on an isolated road in rural Louisiana. Chino would've more than likely been tried for and charged with first-degree murder in an adult court of law, and ended up serving a lifelong sentence with no parole, in a maximum-security penitentiary. I realize that I'm awfully late in replying to this post, but my suspicion is that Natalie Wood was the victim of foul play. It means that Chino was arrested for the retaliatory shooting death of Tony after Tony stabbed and killed Bernardo during the rumble in retaliation for Bernardo's having stabbed and killed Riff, who was like a brother to Tony. Hi, liscarkat! That's no lie!! It's agreed--Not only is the old, original 1961 film version still a classic, but the MGM quotation, "Unlike other classics, West Side Story grows younger.", in reference to the great 1961 film version of West Side Story, rings so true! I admittedly never saw "Sound of Music" on stage, but I liked the film version of "Sound of Music" a great deal. How're you doing, btw? A curious, inquiring mind wants to know. Good point well taken, liscarkat! Thank you. I always enjoy conversing with you on here, StrongRax, but I think we can agree to disagree on this one. One of my nephews is an Emergency room physician at St. Luke's Hospital, down in New Bedford, MA, and it's the second largest hospital in that Bay State South Coastal City. Over 90% the people that he has seen become severely ill, need ventilators, and have died from Covid-19 itself were not vaccinated at all. He did get Covid-19, but, since he was vaccinated, he got a considerably milder case of it, and recovered. Like other vaccines, there's no guarantee that one won't get Covid-19 itself, but the vaccine can and will keep a person out of the hospital, off of a ventilator, and from dying of Covid-19 itself. Hi, KBiker. While I totally agree with you about the old, original 1961 film version of West Side Story being a lot better than the 2021 film version of West Side Story, I believe that Rachel Zegler's singing voice was far too thin and nasal, and not projected forward enough. Ansel Elgort's singing voice was nothing to write home about, either. I also agree with you about the rest of the cast in the original 1961 film version of West Side Story being far better than the cast in the 2021 film version of West Side Story. It's also agreed that the old, original 1961 film version of West Side Story is the real deal, and that the reboot/remake of the film version of West Side Story was totally unnecessary. Netanyahu needs to go! Here's hoping the Israelis hold an early election, and vote Netanyahu out of office, because he's really doing more damage to Israel, and most Israelis want him to resign. Here's hoping that happens. As for Netanyahu wanting to force the Palestinians in Gaza Strip and West Bank to go to Egypt or any of the other Arab countries, the Palestinians will never, ever be accepted by any of the Arab states, including Egypt, because nobody wants them. Having said all of the above, I firmly believe that the two-state solution, with Jerusalem as a shared Capitol between the nation-states of Israel and the nascent nation-state of Palestine, is the only safe, sane and sensible solution to the decades-old Israeli-Arab debacle. Also, the Palestinians need and want to be granted self-determination in the form of their own state, and in the form of their own government. Frankly, Rachel Zegler's singing voice was not projected forward enough. It was too far back, too thin, and too nasal, and it went flat in many places. Ansel Elgort's singing voice was nothing to write home about, either. I agree that the old, original 1961 film version of West Side Story is the real deal--and is king, all around. Moreover, the old, original 1961 film version of West Side Story is my all time favorite movie, hands down. Actually, StrongRex, I disagree with the notion that Covid-19 is just a cold. It's not. Sure, the risk is higher among people who already have compromised immune systems, or who are not in good physical or mental health, generally, but even younger, healthier people, including children and adolescents have become quite sick, and died from Covid-19. Moreover, even a milder case of Covid-19 can up one's risks of getting either a heart attack or a stroke by at least 20-30%, or suffering permanent neurological and/or pulmonary damage. I'm well into my 70's, have gotten all my vaccines, and am glad of it, because it's saved me from hospitalization, being on a ventilator, being seriously ill, or dying from it. I'd rather have certain side affects from the vaccine(s), then to risk hospitalization, being on a ventilator, being permanently incapacitated, or dying from a horribly dangerous disease. The United States and the International Community has to put more pressure to change their policy, get their troops and settlers the hell out of the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and implement the 2-state solution, with Jerusalem as a shared Capitol between the two states. It's the only safe, sane, sensible, practical and workable solution to the decades-old debacle. Ugh! That is absolutely and totally disgusting! In the first place, the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Arab East Jerusalem do not belong to Israel. Secondly, the settlements on West Bank and East jerusalem, as well as the gaza Strip, are illegal under International law. Israel has had no business building settlement buildings, or allowing its ultra-rightwing Jewish settlers to move into and take up residence in those territories. Thirdly, the International community should move in and help implement the two-state solution, as well as evacuate the settlers from the Occupied territories, for they don't belong there. The settlers also have no right to destroy property, injure and kill Palestinians, or to take over West Bank, Gaza Strip, or East Jerusalem. The rightwing Israeli Jewish settlers must be evacuated---now, and if the rightwing Jewish settlers have to be removed from West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem kicking and screaming, so be it. Thank you, StrongRex. Good point, modica. I totally agree with you here! Thanks.
