TLJ 1/10 Dawn Of The Dead (1978) Jaws (1975) Carlito's Way (1993) Calm, reasoned response....Thank you Most kids nowadays are Mongoloids. I enjoyed the first three movies (77 - 83) but even then (and especially now) they're rather overrated. What I do take umbrage to.....are people who have been eating this shit up for 40 years who clearly refuse to take their nostalgia glasses off, rather than admit that these are really bad movies. The franchise now is 100% playing on nostalgia (and little else) Maybe if the fans demanded more.....They might get it? As it stands, the entire front/back/side story is dangerously close to becoming one big incesteous saga, given that everyone has links with each other (for the sake of cheap plot contrivance) which makes it an increasingly smaller galaxy, with each new movie. If you're not one of the idiots I was referring to (in my lengthy rant) then please feel free to not get offended. Yes, I'm obviously getting paid for disliking this movie. The Steven Seagal movie 'INTO THE SUN' (2004) was meant to be a remake of this (and even had the same working title, up until filming commenced) However (like with most 21st century Seagal movies) it was re-written to accommodate either it's star or the studio (SONY, I think?) but the basic premise remained (and it remains one of Seagal's better DTV releases) Personally, I wouldn't change a thing, it's perfect as it is (even it's imperfections are perfect in my eyes) I love the dialogue, make-up and pacing (it's my #1 favourite movie) I'll leave all the tweaks to George Lucas (but I do enjoy reading any/all opinions/criticisms of this movie, anyhow) so keep them coming? 'Shadow Hours' (2000) or 'Top Of The World' (1997) are my faves When did I say you said anything (i just made a glib comparison) I care little about anything you've said......you lost me (and any argument) as soon as you defended James Franco. Wow....you SJW types are so sensitive......are you seriously implying that if I (gasp!) dislike something....then I'm jealous? Yup....James Franco is (clearly) the 21st century Orson Welles? (**extreme sarcasm**) The best example of this was when Warner Brothers teamed up with Twentieth Century Fox, to make 'The Towering Inferno' (back in 1974) because Steve McQueen and Paul Newman were contracted to those respective studios. Fox wanted Newman to get star billing, Warners wanted McQueen to get likewise. In the end, Newmans name came first, but McQueen's name was higher up on the Marquee posters (resulting in a diagonal readout) (Truth be told, I've read many articles that state this was purely down to the ever-competitive Mcqueens insistence) "They're very musical people, aren't they?" Please do (because I have no intention of seeing it myself) but (despite such misgivings) are fascinated as to why it was greenlit? I think it was always the intention to kill them (once they knew that the mission had to be faked) but kept them alive long enough.....to carry out the fake Mars landing.....making it look as if it *could* be achieved (which, in turn, kept the funding alive for future space explorations) Faking something as big as this, would require 100% loyalty on all sides (something I don't think NASA had in it's astronauts) It was a pretty good movie (and a step up, cast-wise for director Isaac Florentine) I just wish it dropped the whole MMA mentality (it felt like one of those mid-2000's 'Tap-Out' movies at times) I get that Banderas' character dabbled with MMA style on his quest......but every fight scene in the second half became one (eventually bland) choreographed (and over-rehearsed) grapple-fest. Oh, now I get it.......you're a prick Never understood why so many people rave over GOODFELLAS (I think CASINO is better) but MEAN STREETS is a great movie No (The first Godfather movie blows this sequel out of the water) and I love both movies. So I guess that means you're chuckling at me (chuckling at others) who bemoan that this movie only took (quote) $90 million on it's opening weekend? Nothing to do with (quote) "How The Movie Business Works".....but more in line with my original question (Or are you saying this film won't make a profit.....and then some?) Of course, you're going to get contrasting box office......but I don't think the Superheroes concerned here will ever be short of support in future endevours......Do you? You could put such Superheroes on the stockmarket....and I'll bet your next-born child that both Superman and Batman would easily outsell any Marvel character (regardless of current Box-Office trends....in terms of overall revenue) I guess your reply perfectly sums up my original point.....being (unless your an executive for each respective studio) that the box-office matters little......leave that shit to the money-men, amigo.....Just enjoy the product Just got out of the cinema....it was better than that last SUPERMAN VS BATMAN travesty (but then I guess 'Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever' is better than the 'Ebola Virus'?) But I do chuckle when people around here gloat "It's only made $90m in it's opening weekend"
