The Big Bang Theory was loved and adored by the right-wing conservatives (more than the liberals). I researched it, through several polls that were taken.
It's a guilty pleasure for the youth.
It's an embarrassment for adults/mature audiences.
When a black kid is smart and very intelligent....in a sitcom, then why does he have to act like a clown.
There are other black sitcoms with intelligent black youths, and they do not to resort to such clownish, slapstick behavior. Michael from Good Times, Franklin from My Wife and Kids and Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air are examples of the black nerd......but they do not act like cartoon characters. It takes an annoyance as Steve Urkel, to bring a black character to that level. Throughout the 1990s, he became the poster child of the black nerd, to be admired and ridiculed at the same time by the masses.
It is now 2023 and a very popular sitcom that featured nerds - The Big Bang Theory - highlighted whites and Asians, but dismissed an African-American (who represents 13% of the USA population), simply because the show did not want another 'Urkel' or possibly felt that black were too stereotypically moronic to feature in the popular sitcom. And I will tell you one thing, it was also a successful show that the right-wing conservatives sponsored and adored. Gee, I wonder why.
Family Matters aka The Urkel Show, should have been animated. At least the clownishness of the sitcom would have been more appropriate. The show is a guilty pleasure, and an embarrassment.

Both sitcoms have black characters acting casually stupid, without rhyme or reason. They both should have been animated series, instead of live action sitcoms.
Steve Urkel, could still be smart and very intelligent but instead he has to look like a stereotypical nerd, with the highwater pants, wired glasses and snorting laugh. The show makes him a clown. Yeah, and you wonder why The Big Bang Theory lack black characters to begin with.
Martin, always stands by his pride.....NO MATTER WHAT.....until reality kicks him in the ass.....and he still ends up acting like an asshole by the end of a screwball episode. And then you have ridiculous named characters like Dr. Skyhook played by guest star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and/or other predictably silly character arc based on figures synonymous with pop AA culture. Too bad, Martin Lawrence couldn't afford to get MJ or Prince on the show dressed in their popular gear - so that Martin could make asses out of them with his raunchy humor.
Both sitcoms stink.
They both distance themselves from classier black sitcoms, such as:
- Fresh Prince of Bel Air
- The Cosby Show
- A Different World
- The Jeffersons
- Good Times
- 227
- Amen
- Roc
The show is stupid.....it should have been animated, instead.
Good for him. Clowns are good actors, too. That is why we have circuses.
Let's see:
Urkel - a silly, goofy, nerdy black kid that no one really likes.
Martin - a loud, obnoxious hoodlum who disrespects everyone (including his woman and his friends) him....yet, still likeable (due to the show's integrity).
Equates to a couple of clowns.....a couple of losers, in a non-progressive way.
The Cosby Show was classier, as opposed to the moronic Family Matters sitcom.

Why make the main character a silly, comical and stereotypical nerd? Too bad he never got the privilege is getting featured in the Big Bang Theory. Folks knew how stupid and unrealistic Urkel was. That character was nothing more than a mere caricature.
Martin - the main character is a goofy, stupid radio disc jockey from the hood. The show is comprised of 95% silly plots that festered on black stereotypes, based on Martin Lawrence's upbringing.
Family Matters - features a stereotypical and comical nerd, who happens to be African-American. Every situation that he is in, is a screwball antic. He is very annoying and persistent, pestering the Winslow family at every moment (i.e. falling in love with Laura, thinking he is Eddie's best bud and tormenting Carl --- a la Dennis the Menace to Mr. Wilson).
I can imagine Nas and T-Boz un-dressing themselves to be nude (with the natives), as soon as their flight touches down in Africa......LOL
I blame Hollywood and its everlasting hypocritical racism, with its stereotype of Africa being 'one country,' instead of a continent with over 50 different nations.
The conservative establishment (dominated by the white man, of course) in the Western cultural landscape, continues to support that type of ignorance - making minorities seem primitive and uneducated.
Yep....she was ugly from the start and to the end. She looks like 'Madam' the puppet, from back in the day.
and to imagine, they kept his garbage on the air, and cancelled 'Winning Time'.
