Concrete Sleepers were first used in the late 1800s, and in Australia, most have been concrete since WWII.
You would have SERIOUS problems eating and drinking. You wouldn't be able to keep the food or drink in your mouth, you'd pretty much have to throw your head back and chug it down like a gannet.
I'd even go as far as to say that you'd have trouble getting enough calories to survive.
Carrie Henn was 17 by the time Alien3 was being made, and as she was in a cryo tube, she wouldn't have aged a day since she was put in it, that and Alien 3 was set only a couple of years after Aliens, so Carrie would have been too old... By then she had decided to become a teacher anyhow, so there's a good chance she simply wouldn't have been interested.
The brief time that we saw Newt in Alien 3, she was played by Danielle Edmond.
