I don't think it's better than aliens but it's always been a very underrated movie.

Though when I watched it, the film pretty much suggested that these three black women were the primary movers in NASAs successes which seems a tad unlikely to me. That might explain some negativity. It's one thing to shine a spotlight on the roles of minorities in past accomplishments but another entirely to rewrite history altogether.
But that's just a guess.
I like the cynicism of the show and think it is extremely clever.
