Ada was adorable.

Such a lucky little lamb, getting adopted by Noomi Rapace.

I agree. I really felt for the parents and Ada. At first, seeing her was a surprise but, just like Petur, I came around. She was so adorable, I really felt bad for her at the end.

Yes, Ada is cute.
Hmmm..."lucky" by "getting adopted".
Lamb-mother was shot by (adoption-) mother Maria (Noomi Rapace).
Seems, Ada's bodily father wasn't amused about it.

Along with the actors , the birthing shots, and stunning scenery. Yes the ada idea had my head spinning . At first i laughed, and then was just constantly thinking " ya id love my child no matter what too. " weird movie
7 outa 10 for me

It's not as "weird" as you may think. 🐏

I enjoy your breakdown. And i do agree she has that jesus like innocence. But its gotta be said she didn't die ( which would have been one way to wrap the story ). Her (step, foster?)dad did , which forgive me if im wrong, breaks a bit away from the christ analogy. But i do get similar feelings when i think about the ada character, and when i think about christ as a symbol and person.

What "breakdown"? ☻
This movie isn't a direct "christ analogy".
Ada's biological father is the nordic God Heimdall.
Heimdall still appears distorted in today's Christmas rituals as a ram, but his origin is in ancient Germanic mythologies that you obviously don't know about.

By break down i meant your keys to understanding the movie post.
Fer sure . I had and still have very little knowledge of this movies pre-text. Im just a dude on a couch who watched a movie about a lamb baby.

Any movies you could recommend about Heimdall , and germanic folklore. is there a lot of cross over in icelandic culture and Germanic ?

reply

First you made me angry with my "breakdown", and now you make me laugh with "a movie about a lamb baby".
You realized the "lamb baby" has human features? ☺
Ok ok, got it now with the "breakdown" and as an apology for my misunderstanding here one of my favourite scenes in one of my favourite series:

Vikings (2013) - The first Fight in Northumbria (nowadays England)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtKvowzDP2s
Ragnar (Viking chief) and the friendly Sheriff try their best to make it a peaceful first encounter. But language barrier, distrust and reluctant followers lead to a bloodbath.

Yes, there are crossovers in the cultures cause we share Germanic roots.
Germanic doesn't mean German.
Germany is a small part of the 'Germanic territory'.
Controversial discussed if the term 'Germanic' is correct, cause many different tribes who fought each other.
While Iceland preserved much of their Nordic/Germanic culture what co-exists easily with the Christian religion, ours was mostly wiped out or merged into Christian rituals.

Hmmm...a movie with Heimdall to recommend.
There are many Nordic Gods in the modern Marvel Universe and even the Vikings' series takes many historical liberties. Therefore wouldn't call the Marvel movies bad but I don't watch them anymore cause they confuse me in the anyhow confusing mythologies.
Perhaps you already know Thor: Ragnarök (2017) with many Gods in it (Odin, Thor, Hel, Heimdall, Loki, etc.).

But still in significant danger.
