What do you think was the back story behind the upper middle aged couple?

SPOILERS ahead:

The patron who had his finger cut off (Judith Light's husband) - what do you think was his back story? I got the impression that their daughter (Claire) had died. Then we learn that the husband had hired Margot as an escort. He asked her to act like his daughter as he masturbated in front of her. Were we to sympathize with him? Was this his albeit odd way of coping with the loss of his daughter? Or was it implied that she killed herself because he must have been sexually abusing her? I happened to think his wife (Judith Light) was the least culpable character in the film and did not deserve to die. And if the former theory is correct, neither did he. (Not remembering what he ate in previous visits is not a sin justifying death.)

I think almost none of them deserved to die. Did the actor who starred in a bad movie deserve to die?

No, really none of them deserved to die. But that’s a separate topic. I was curious about that specific character’s backstory.
