FACT: There are no images of child sexual abuse in Cuties.

Prove me wrong.

I decided to watch this just to see what all the fuss was about. This film really caused an uproar when it was released. Now, when you say 'sexual abuse' there is a fine-line between abuse and portraying sexual tendencies in a film.

People are "characters" in movies not people in "real" situations. It's an act...

That being said, I didn't see sexual abuse in this film, however, this is one of the most sexually charged movies featuring minors that I've seen in a while. Although, it's really not that uncommon to see middle-school aged girls (sometimes even younger) dancing this way. But yeah, crotch grabbing/grinding is a little controversial at that age even if it is "just a movie". But then again, I've seen more controversial sexual stuff involving minors than this in movies. The last one I saw that was rather freaky was The Tale (2018). It actually has a sex scene featuring a minor. However, they used a body double in this scene but you really can't tell it's a double.

I think Cuties would have been better using high school aged girls. It would have been a little more realistic. But one thing is for sure, I bet it was difficult casting the girls in this movie. These girls are actually pretty good little dancers and can act a little. It's hard to find young people with this combination.

That being said, not sure the movie itself is that great though. I mean, *** spoiler***

The epiphany that Amy has at the end didn't make a lot of sense. I mean, she had stabbed a kid with a pencil, shoved a girl into the water, dressed in provocative clothes etc... and then suddenly for some unknown reason, right in the middle of the dance-off she stops and wonders about her choices? lol...

**end spoiler**

The movie has a very amateur feel to it as well. Almost like what you see in a Lifetime movie. Anyhow, I'll give it a 4 out of 10. Pretty good acting in this little flick but not much else to say about it.
