mister gorbatjov tear down

what a treat, i cant recall ever seeing gorbatjov in a sit down interview, at least my experience is it's so rare to come across anything relating to gorbatjov today, at the beginning of the interview if i didn't know he was still active writing i'd think something was age related in the pace he answered questions, but completely sharp and seem rather reflecting before answering, and as it continues what an inspiring, captivating and rich documentary, gorbatjov was before my time so seeing him on television has been limited, but this really exceeded my expectation, mixed with a look back in history and a lot of 80s clips, including that bizarre hospital scenario, and some really old footage of gorbatjov, i thought perhaps all this was added to fill the running time, as the case is sometimes, but yet pieces of the interview seemed cut, i got a new perspective on things after usually only hearing one side, and his comments about thatcher was so funny, there's also old footage of her giving comments as well as brand new from james baker and others, this german documentary seemed a bit shaky on english at times but i guess that's what happens in a country that is dubbing every programme and movie 24/7, same thing with italian tv, on the other hand it's a frequent bugger how my country isn't dubbing a solitary thing except children's movies and even that often has original as option, i really like how english speaking channels are dubbing to their own, i wish gorbatjov was dubbed into english in this so i could listen without having to be glued on subtitles, then i would probably have had the interview on repeatedly. i found i couldn't get back into the groove of current events after watching this. i love how frank and honest he seems, what etched in my mind was the part where simply he spells out some people shouldn't be involved in politics and have leading positions. i'm guessing this won't win any award for editing, pretty rough cuts at times. i didn't learn until very recently other languages spell his name differently, like it's a word or biblical. this just made me want to keep listening further, i didn't want this interview to end, wow, i do not regret checking this out.

packed and ready to go,
nothing to hang on to here anymore,
bit by bit till im all by myself,
drip drip till a dry well,
my darlins taken away,
only memories on an empty road ahead,
with this last cash in pocket,
unwelcomed homeless man at the station i stop it.
