Sneak Preview Review 15 Dec 2019 - spoilers

Fascinating WW1 story of two young men sent on a mission through no man's land to stop a doomed advance. There are very few WW1 movies period - none in color as I can recall and none that don't end cynically.

This might be an exception but like Dunkirk feels like a dream state especially after the German sniper incident and falling down the stairs - it may well be imagined from there on? There's lots of little signals that maybe support this theory - the perfectly legible letter after swimming the river, meeting the woman in the cellar, the cherubic choir etc.

There are also some plot questions which I think you just have to suspend belief over. For example would you really only send two men for such an important mission, why not just repair the signal lines or drop a message by plane, would the pilot be so quick to stab his rescuer etc. A parade of stars. Beautifully filmed by Roger. A singular achievement that should be seen on the big screen - a wonderful companion piece to "They shall not grow Old".
