who wouldn't take cake?

This was based on a true story but I found it a bit hard to believe for 2 reasons:

1) In the movie, she had trouble getting people to take slices. In my experience, anyone offering free cakes would have had it snapped up in seconds from other people who seconds later would have turned around and gone back to their friends.

2) Who has all that time and money to make so many fancy cakes? Also, every cake was different. No one makes a cake with different ingredients and has it turn out respectably each time. It can take multiple tries before you figure it out.
