why is the CGI so bad??!?!

holy FUCK this is some of the most godawful CGI I've seen in a $200 million film. some of it looks on the same level as something for the Syfy Channel or by the Asylum. some of those shots during the newcast at the beginning are laughably awful. some of the practical effects are pretty good but even those pale in comparison to the 1993 film.
