Renegade Cut: She-Ra Is Good, Actually

The video is basically a discussion of the potential positive influence of Netflix's new She-Ra show on children, and how it excels in this respect compared to other kids-oriented media. On a surface level, the show normalizes queer relationships and identities, which is good for both acceptance of queer people and for the people themselves. It also goes into how She-Ra's depiction of parent-child relationships is better than that of most kids' media, which often implicitly asserts that abusive parents love their children deep down. She-Ra, on the other hand, contrasts healthy parenting with abusive parenting, without glamorizing or justifying the abuse.

In my personal favorite part, the video discusses how She-Ra more clearly communicates its politics and those of its characters to the audience. While media like Star Wars typically uses shorthand and visual cues to draw parallels to real-life political movements, She-Ra's characters (in particular Swiftwind the leftist talking horse) are more explicit in their goals, and the protagonists are sometimes even at odds.
