Better choice than Bradley Cooper?

I liked BC's work in this movie, but was wondering if his role could've been done better by another actor.

Leo DiCaprio - he's a much better actor and could've done a better job than BC
Christian Bale - same as above
Robert Pattison - bit of a dark horse, but he could pull it off IMO

Anyone else?

The women and the rest of the cast all did a good job, esp. Cate Blanchett, who's always great. BC wasn't bad, but I had trouble seeing him as a medium. His role in Limitless was more along his style.

Also found it a bit hard to believe he'd so easily agree to become a geek. He wasn't exactly head over heels in love with either woman to have their separation break him to such a degree, and a con man of his pedigree and looks would've simply dusted himself off and moved to another state to find an alternate venue or better line of work.
