Here's the truth about this flick....(SPOILERS BLACKED OUT)...

If you can sit through a thriller and not be bothered by implausibilities and are able to easily set aside instances of disbelief, you will love this flick.

If on the other hand, if unexplainable or unjustifiable implausibilities are your movie watching downfall, then you will hate this flick.

It was so good until it started falling apart and asked too much of the viewer.....

For those that want to see spoilers, here they are....For one thing, the creators turned the stalked wife into an idiot. From the start, she obviously was not an idiot. On top of that, she had ample opportunities to protect herself and did not. Next, the fall. Really? And twice? It easily could have been shown something could have slowed her descent. Though, I loved the shock of the character being pushed the first time. I always thought it was going to be the neighboring woman that was going to be the attacker. Next, not fleeing when she had the chance. I get that the "crow" and "eagle" part was to show why she came back, but really?
Then, going back into the house with all the nook and crannies to hide about and then getting fooled by a person she saw kill two people right in front of her and with no care whatsoever. There were just too many things.

Well, to start off, I think all (or close to it) thrillers and horror movies require the viewer to suspend their disbelief to a degree. I disagree with how you dichotomized love and hate for a movie based off of the amount it asked the viewer to suspend their disbelief. I thought the music, acting and cinematography were all quite good in this movie. That should count for something too, no?

Anyways, I do agree that there were moments that asked a bit from the viewer. I'll comment on your points below.(spoilers)

First, I thought it was kind of silly when Jules went back to finish off Jackie. She was smarter than that. Also, anything they once had was shattered the moment Jackie killed their neighbors. So crow, bald eagle or bear, none of it should have mattered to Jules anymore. She could have found a safer ways of stopping her. I think the last 5 or so minutes make up for this strange choice. Either way I can see how this decision could be frustrating to others.

As for Jules being stupid... I don't think she was at all. Except for the end of the movie when she turns back she seemed to do better than any other normal person would in that situation. Hiding, cleaning and fixing herself up, even taking the boat out we're all good choices (even if they didn't turn out to be the best choices in the end). After the neighbors were dead it showed her as broken and bereft of hope, so I found her actions believable there.

Last is the fall. The first time was a huge shock. I thought she was dead. But to be honest, after looking at it; I don't think that cliff was high enough to effectively kill someone. I would guess between 35-40 feet? Even if I'm off by 10 feet it is plausible that someone would survive a fall like that.

So yea, I do think it asked a bit from the viewer, but it wasn't absurd. It's plot isn't perfect and it has, like it or not, some twists and turns. But overall, it's a solid flick and I think that it's worth a watch.
