A good film, but I have two questions.

Why didn't they take the old woman with them, or at least take the piece of paper she offered them? That seemed kind of illogical and rude.

Also at the end, were they beamed aboard the alien ship, or were they vaporized? The film seemed to suggest the latter, as evidenced by what appeared to be ashes on and around the tape recorder.

If that's the case, the ending is rather bleak and disappointing.
