Good movie, but lousy Netflix subtitles

I just watched this on Netflix today. Significant portions of the movie are in Russian or Polish so I had to turn subtitles on. The problem is that the subbing for all Netflix content is awful. You have to put up with slow, delayed, and out-of-sync subtitles, fast subtitles that flash for a fraction of a second then disappear before you can read them, and subtitles that don't appear at all. These technical issues occur with every Netflix movie I've ever watched with subtitles. Its tolerable with English language scenes, but not with non-English ones. So I know I missed important Russian and Polish dialogue because of this. The old approach of "foreigners-speaking-English-but-with-bad-foreign-accents" would have been better.

However, in spite of all that, I still liked the movie. It had great production values and captured the look and feel of the 60's. Bill Pullman also gave a good performance (stepping in to replace Willian Hurt). There were some confusing parts (I probably missed some nuances due to the aforementioned issues) but I still enjoyed the flick. Now if only Netflix would fix their darn subbing system!
