I think it was much worse to kill off Adrian. This left an emptyness in the movies, would have been so nice to see her interacting with Mama Creed. Paulies Story was really told to an end, he was a broken and was able to redeem him after the fuck up in Rocky 5. As an ex-alcoholic and working class man, his life expectation was anyway quite realistic. He had a good life with 72 years, more as he could have expected from his life style.
