When did this take place?

It's a another tragic tale of how regular people are affected by the greater events around them. Was curious when this took place, and assume it's just after the cease fire was broken in 2016, when Russia cut off supplies/reinforcements to the city with bombing.

As tragic as it was, found it interesting that they don't show any of the opposition fighters in the film, just a few smaller protests.
