Seems To Avoid Giving Plemons's Character Any Credit

The lawyer in charge of defending the Washington Post in front of the Supreme Court

The whole drama of the film was based on the potential legal battle that would ensue between the Fed government and the newspapers, and they just skip it as if publishing the papers was the hardest part and laying out a case for why it was the right thing to do was just an afterthought

Really bugged me

I agree. And they also did not go into enough detail about The Pentagon Papers. Which is ironic. Too much time was focused on Graham and being a woman.

Yup, I saw the "transformation" of Streep's character coming a mile away

Streep is an accomplished actress, but I wasn't buying into her stuttering, sheepish act very much. It was obvious that her character was being set up for a big show of bravery and confidence at the end. It was lame

Kind of reminds me of that scene in Saving Private Ryan where that cowardly soldier who let his comrades die finally decides to grow some balls and pick up his gun. Spielberg is recycling material from his bag of tricks
