If you think about it, they were really cheering her death. Once she went back, she basically died in their reality, because she was likely dead by then in 2016. So once she left again, she was dead. Her leaving was kind of like going into her death, from their perspective. I think they were imagining her returning to a life, but really, she returned to death.
