Do you think things from the book will be expanded upon in the movie?

The book is a novella aka short novel and probably not long enough for a feature length feature film if it adhered to nothing more than what was in the book.

I'm sure they'll put their own twist on a lot of what's in the book. I'm wondering if they're going to have merricat as a omniscient narrator.

reply

I presume they'll be expanding the point of view a bit to Constance and Charles in addition to Merricat, considering trades have pinned Sebastian Stan as the lead.

Also, considering who's at the helm, I have to wonder if certain subtexts will be brought to light, hence her own "twist" on the material.

Surely the bare bones plot can remain intact if elements are expanded upon.

Well...how familiar are you with the works of Mark Kruger? Probably not much, because he's never had a big hit. His projects always start out with fan fair and always deliver a late, cold pizza with all the cheese stuck to the top of the lid.

reply

But Stacie Passon also helped write the script and she's the director. So how much is Kruger's input?

reply

A novella too short for a feature-length film? Short stories, poems, songs, paintings, and even single lines from books have been made into feature-length movies successfully many times.
