It looks interesting.

I watched the first episode. I'm not sure if knowing it's not real takes any of the fun away, but I don't really think so. It's kind of a weird mix of True Detective, Blaxploitation movies and Police Squad. Somehow it kinda works, though.

Does it cut away to "real life" where Tatum and others are dubbing the show or is the show just about the detectives (their show)? I hope my question makes sense.

I've only seen the one, but after the intro from Tatum and the other guy (can't recall his name), it plays just like a real show.
