I just saw the last showing of this film a lot Sundance. Needless to say I was not disappointed. As a fan of the book I thought this adaptation was simply breathtaking. I'm not sure I could love it more, maybe only if it were longer. Armie and Timothee had amazing chemistry it was like fire between them. Really truly perfect, feel free to ask me any questions

The book explained that Oliver was a young looking 24 year old and Elios was 17.
The actor cast to play Oliver was probably 29 during filming. To me the actor appears way too old to play a young looking 24 year old character, especially if one is looking for an accurate portrayal of the book, and I am, because the age gap in the book is somewhat non-traditional, yet I accepted the two characters were drawn together. With the movie will I accept a much older looking man falling for a skinny teenager? I question whether I will, because that scenario doesn't appeal to me quite as much, and seems less likely to happen in the same way that a young looking 24 year old might fall for teenage Elios.
I can totally see where you are coming from and I could be inclined to agree with you if it weren't for the fact that the characters are nosy cast perfectly. Armie may be a tad bit older but he radiates this youthfulness and sexiness and sweetness that fits the character so well. His chemistry with Timothee works so well I would not have cast it differently. Honestly he pulls off 24 to me just fine

shareFirst of all, I'm so jealous you've seen this already! I cannot wait for it to come out in theaters. I recently re-read the book and I have two questions about the film. First, I loved the fact that both men were bisexual (or at least Elio definitely is) and I was wondering if that was portrayed in the film? My next questions is if the movie portrayed the Jewish aspects of the characters. I really enjoyed the fact the two bonded over shared heritage/religion, it really added depth to the story and characters. I actually have a million more questions but figure I should leave some things till the actual film comes out. Thanks!
shareI really liked how they potrayed their mutual jewish heritage. There is a scene where they sit on the floor together and Oliver is giving him a foot massage cause his nose is bleeding and they talk about it. This is before they sleep together as well it's a really sweet scene
