Come on koreans, it can't be that hard!

i mean he knew that guy wasn't transformed completely. It was THE perfect moment to throw off that sc@mbag, yet he chose to have a conversation and got bitten. now the poor girl lost her father.

It was an unnecessary drama at the end. they could've survived easily and led to a perfect ending

Might want to add spoiler warning in the title.

It bothers me how one dimensional that a$$hole character was.
He was bad for the sake of the story needing a cancerous bad guy.
And at the end he says something about his mother which I guess is supposed to provoke audience sympathy towards him, but I thought it was pretty generic excuse.

^I agree.

I don't even know why this movie needed a bad guy. He's the reason some characters died.

reply

It needed a bad guy because the movie was overly long. Should have ended right after those dudes who didn't want to let them in the train cart got a taste of their own medicine and the bad guy should have died alongside them.

Right.
And I thought the bad guy was the closest to the zombies entering their part of the train. How he managed to escape even that would have been interesting to see.

Dawn of the Dead is even longer and the bad guys in that one appeared much later, and they're not even treated in the similar way like the bad guy in this movie, they're more like another opstacle.

And I agree, he should've died, it was actually pretty contrived how he survived all those situations. There's no explanation how he managed to get to the bathroom with that other guy.

reply

The protagonist was closer to the bad guy at the start but over time became more like the buff heroic guy. It was good for contrasting. He was also the character that embodied people's fears and selfishness so I thought he was pretty vital.

Also, imo the addition of jerk characters is realistic as even in the most dire situations you will get them, often thwarting the group despite all the odds against whatever threat.

Might want to add spoiler warning in the title.

I don't get why people even complain about that, of course the entire board will be talking about what happened in the movie -_-

Right.

he's a sneaky bastard, most likely while the zombies are busy biting the other people he used that chance to escape into the washroom (and probably used them as a shield too)

reply

Well, we can't all be the top ace in whatever we do right?

It's difficult to always do the most appropriate thing or take the best action during any intense situation. Merely seconds to think in this case. I mean there were scenes where I rolled my eyes as well but this is a movie and I am trying to judge characters in comfort.

In the beginning of the movie, the father was shown to allow the pregnant woman and her husband die by locking the door behind them. He even told his daughter to only worry about her own survival as a lesson. While the father isn't bad, he's not the greatest person in the world either as portrayed in multiple scenes. As the story developed over a short 1 hour 30 minutes, we can see the father slowly becoming more considerate of others, but his ultimate goal was just to keep his daughter alive.

Also, what's with the title singling out "Koreans"? As if one ethnicity is more prone to commit the same faux pas than another group?

"Also, what's with the title singling out "Koreans"? As if one ethnicity is more prone to commit the same faux pas than another group?"

I'm guessing that was done because the film is, you know, a Korean production with a Korean cast.

reply

It needed a bad guy because in real life there would have been at least 1 person just like him on a busy train. The scene where he talks all of the survivors into stopping the others from staying in the car would very likely happen in a real life scenario.

reply

"because in real life there would have been at least 1 person just like him on a busy train."

No, you're thinking of Hollywood.

reply

I agree. Movie was pretty good in a sense that there weren't a lot of stupid characters doing stupid things going against common sense like in most movies, but that part was pretty stupid. Just grab the loser's tie and toss him over. Or they could've circled around And enter the other side and lock the guy out

reply

Well, there was actually a lot of characters doing stupid things, but most of those weren't the main characters, but even some of the main ones did pretty stupid things.

reply

Movie should have ended when the old lady opened up the cart and killed everyone in there.

Instead we almost wasted our time in the end and got very close to a LOST ending... tsk tsk.

reply

Relax dude. This is just a movie, no need to get depressed over the fate of the protagonist. Don't do suicide okay?

reply

He was an annoying asshat but seemingly all zombie films have to feature them.

You see them so many times, right back to the bullying white guy in night of the living dead, that as soon as you see any troublesome character you immediately want to kill them because you know that at some point down the line they are going to cause others to die.

Small moves Ellie, small moves

reply

Yeah, i didn't like that either. But in my opinion movie should have been at least 25 shorter. Somewhere after that old lady opened the door for zombies, after that scene ending would be perfect. I gave it 7/10, if ending wasn't over the top like it was, i could easily gave it 8/10. Oh well, overall, pretty entertaining movie.

reply

Thing is, not everyone is ready to throw someone off a train while they're still alive. That's the difference between the dad and the bad guy.

reply

this movie was 30 mintues too long
