Farewell scene between Captain Blocker and Corporal Henry Woodson

was so compellingly played between the two actors. In those moments you learned a lot about the bond between the two with very few words spoken. It was an important scene to establish that Blocker was not a one dimensional racist killer and that Woodson was a brave and duty bound soldier. I just wish there had been a little more consistency with a back story to give context to their emotions. Moments earlier, Blocker didn’t even help a mortally wounded Woodson off his horse and didn’t really show much investment when Woodson was near death earlier in camp. I think the emotions would have made more sense if we had seen Blocker observe Woodson save his life in the prior battle.
