Degrassi: Social Justice Warriors

This show is so far to the left it's comical. You have the feminists complaining about women in video games, sexist micro-aggressions, Systematic Racism, Black Lives Matters protest, online trolling, 58.7% of the cast is gay, white privileged, etc. By Season 3, they will be demanding reparations for slavery. I haven't laughed this hard at a show since Jimmy Kimmel use to dress like Karl Malone on The Man Show.

I miss the old days of TNG when they mixed in political issues but the show was mostly about the individual characters and their struggles. The first season of TNC was very good but season 2 got way too political and it seems it's only going down the drain. I don't feel like having issues I disagree with shoved down my throat. About ready to give up on the show.

Life sucks, Brendon. That's your lesson. Go enjoy it.

I'm surprised so many people here think it's ridiculous.

I mean yeah some of it was over the top, however they're actually doing a good job of keeping up with the times. That's just how it is now. People's sensitivity towards matters dealing with personal, political, racial/religious justice is constantly growing. The things you listed are all very relevant and very real right now. I don't see any issue with a show, especially one geared towards vulnerable teenagers, tackling those subjects.

Because of the lack of social media when Degrassi: TNG first began, these things weren't on people's minds. Tensions weren't as obvious because personal struggles and discrimination were only talked about on the news. Now it's everywhere. The world is smaller. We know everything that goes on in everyone's lives, and thus a lot of people are more sensitive towards it.

I'm sorry that people here think it's ridiculous, but it is reality. It may not be YOUR reality specifically, but it's very apparent that many, many people deal with this kind of stuff on a regular basis.

My concern is that there are two sides to every story/issue (or more, actually). Degrassi used to do a much better job at presenting a more balanced take on real issues. Now, in my opinion, they use a sledgehammer to put forward their views on social issues. Then again, it is true that the over the top SJW issues every episode actually are reflective of reality these days.
