Feeling sorry for him or not?

For the most part, yes, I felt for the guy, especially when Sydney Leathers turned up on whatever media outlet would have her to milk her 15 minutes of fame to the point of turning up at his election HQ with reporters in tow (natch).

Or when the journalists ask Weiner the same question (about his wife not turning up in public with him in the later stage of his campaign) 7 or 8 times, and then ask 'one more question?'...and then proceed to same godd@mn question as before!

I had to remind myself that Weiner was ultimately the author of his own misfortune.

Posting the photo of his bulging underwear, people could forgive, and indeed it looked like they were going to...but no, he had to send explicit messages to women he just had to know were going to be trouble.

As that one Jewish guy said outside the store after the shouting-match with that one heckler: "Why couldn't he just walk away?"

Which pretty much sums up Weiner to me. Why couldn't he, just, not do what he did...?

Not. He clearly has impulse control issues & it, no doubt, affects more than just his sex life.

And like other philandering politicians, he brought his spouse forward to vouch for him & prop him up in public, when his private behavior became public. He kept trying to use Huma to burnish his own image, like in his TV ads, when he should have been grateful she hadn't left him flat. And using his son for photo ops & caring most about how things appeared just showed his political mechanizations.

He came across as a raging narcissist & I felt sorry for his family. He seemed angry & defiant & even at times scared & humiliated, but not contrite. Politics must be one of the fields that attracts narcissists. It is probably rare to find a politician who is not putting on a show for voters.

I don't feel sorry for him at all, he's a nasty little man. He would be that even if there wasn't the sexting scandal. The ones I feel sorry for are the ones who worked on his campaign, being blind-sided by his never ending problem.

And the movie was a painful movie to watch.

Feel bad for him? Hell no. Do I like him, yeah. He is actually charming with fire in his belly unlike a lot of Democratic politicians. Throws himself out there and is "bold".....but feel bad for him, no. He could have gone very far in the Senate if he hadn't f'ed up. Even ran for President someday but he f'ed up multiple tomes and it was completely his fault.

I don't feel sorry for him. He reaped exactly what he sowed. But I am saddened by the tragedy of someone with obvious political talent and conviction whose inability to control himself was his downfall.
