Lots of graphic nudity.

I loved the movie but dayum there was a lot of graphic nudity in this picture from both men and women. I guess the censorship laws in Brazil are more relaxed than the States.

reply

Yes, they are indeed. We Brazilians are more tolerant to nudity than most Americans, although many Brazilians criticize the fact that most Brazilian films have nudity or sex scenes, specially when they don't seem quiet necessary.

Regarding the nudity in Aquarius, I'm pretty sure they prevented the movie from reaching a larger audience and from receiving more recognition in International awards.
By the way, the movie almost received a 18 year old rating (equivalent to NC17 in the US) due to these scenes.

Different cultures! I actually don't see any exageration of nudity in Aquarius and the scenes seem to be in context in my opinion. I suppose it may look stragne to the USA audience as it sounds to me the constant use of the words vagina and penis repeatedly in American films and sitcons. Something I never heard from an American in every day conversations while living there.

nudity is a way smaller deal in both continental europe and latin america than in the usa, which is both prudish and sex-obsessed (which is not, as one might assume, paradoxical; it's as far from paradoxical as it gets, it makes complete sense). britain, canada, australia and new zealand have similar problems but to a lesser extent. that there are (probably) filmmakers in europe and south america who are specifically avoiding nudity in order to avoid irritating the moronic sexual neuroses of anglophone cinemagoers is tragic.

reply

Wow. I didn't think they made brushes that broad.
